I was born in a small town outside of Pittsburgh, PA where I spent the first 18 years of my life. Travel ice hockey consumed most of my free time while growing up, though quit travel going into high school, but went on to win two state championships with that team. I built my first website when I was 9 years old and have been bringing ideas to life since then. I am mostly self taught, but recently graduated from Full Sail University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Web Design and Development. I received a Course Director’s Award for Flex Frameworks, the Advanced Achiever Award, and finished as valedictorian for my class.

Why I love the web. To me it is very intriguing to be able to build a sustainable business with such a low overhead of getting started. With a host, text editor, and an idea you have something that might impact millions of people tomorrow.

Design style. Like this website and the majority of my others, you can see I am big on simplicity and minimalistic design.

Favorite technologies. Huge fan of Ruby on Rails, PHP, MySQL, jQuery, XHTML, HTML5, CSS3, jQTouch, PhoneGap, and Objective-C (iOS Development).

Books. A lot of people ask me what books I recommend for both self-help and programming. Recently we published the Far From It Bookstore with all of our favorites.
